Four quiz types, one builder.

Pulseware ships templates for the quiz formats people actually share. Pick a starting point and edit; the scoring logic is set up for you.

How quiz scoring works.

Two scoring modes, configured in the builder — no formulas, no spreadsheets.

Archetype scoring

Each answer option maps to one or more result types. At the end of the quiz, the highest-scoring archetype is shown — with its own headline, description, and image.

Used by: personality quizzes, BuzzFeed-style quizzes, self-assessments.

Right / wrong scoring

Each question has a correct answer. The result is the percentage of correct answers, with optional thresholds for "Expert / Pro / Beginner" bands.

Used by: trivia, knowledge checks, training quizzes.

Example: a 6-question personality quiz.

"Which leadership style are you?" — six questions, four archetypes, one shareable result. This is the default template you get when you click Create a quiz.

  1. When a team disagrees, your first instinct is to…
  2. You measure a project's success mostly by…
  3. The kind of feedback you give most often is…
  4. If a deadline slips, you usually…
  5. Your favourite type of meeting is…
  6. Long-term, you'd rather be known for…

Four result types: The Strategist · The Coach · The Operator · The Visionary. Each gets its own result page, shareable URL, and screenshot-friendly card.

AI prompt examples for quizzes.

Paste any of these into the Pulseware AI builder and you'll get a ready-to-edit quiz draft — questions, answer choices, and the result mapping.

"Create a 12-question personality quiz about leadership style, with four result archetypes."

"Make a 10-question trivia quiz on 1990s Australian music with right/wrong scoring."

"Build a 6-question quiz called Which side hustle suits you? with five result types."

"Write a short stress-check self-assessment with a 0–100 score and a personalised result page."

Why people actually share quizzes.

The numbers say: personality quizzes get shared roughly an order of magnitude more than the surveys around them. Three reasons keep showing up.

  1. The result feels personal. A result that names them ("You're a Strategist") is more shareable than a percentage. Pulseware lets you write the archetype copy yourself.
  2. It's screenshot-friendly. The result page is designed for the iPhone screenshot loop — bold archetype name, one-line description, share button. No "view full report" gate.
  3. The link is unique to them. Every respondent gets a result URL they can post. When their friends click, the quiz runs again — and the result is theirs, not the original respondent's.

Common questions

Specifically about building, scoring, and sharing quizzes.

What kinds of quizzes can I build with Pulseware?
Personality quizzes ("Which character / leader / personality type are you?"), trivia quizzes with right/wrong scoring, BuzzFeed-style "result archetype" quizzes, and scored knowledge tests for training or onboarding. The builder ships with templates for all four.
How does scoring work?
For trivia: each question has a correct answer, and the final score is the percentage correct. For personality quizzes: each answer maps to one or more result archetypes, and the highest-scoring archetype is the result. You configure the mapping in the builder — no spreadsheets required.
Can the quiz show a personalised result page?
Yes. Define the result types ("The Strategist", "The Diplomat" etc.), set a description and image for each, and Pulseware picks the right one based on the respondent's answers. The result page is shareable — every respondent gets a unique URL they can post.
Is the quiz maker really free?
Yes. Quiz creation, scoring, AI question drafting, personalised result pages, and unlimited responses are all on the Free plan. Custom branding (your logo, your colours, your domain) is on the Pro plan.
How do I make my quiz go viral?
Three things matter: a clickable headline ("Which X are you?"), a result page that people want to screenshot, and a share button on the result. Pulseware ships all three by default. The fourth thing — distribution — is on you.
Can I use AI to write the quiz?
Yes. Open the AI survey maker, prompt it with something like "12-question personality quiz about leadership style, four result types", and it drafts the questions, answer options, and result mapping. You edit before publishing.
Does Pulseware support timed quizzes for trivia?
A per-quiz time limit is on the roadmap. Today you can show a stopwatch and award score based on accuracy. For high-stakes trivia where speed is everything, evaluate first.
Can I embed the quiz on my website?
Yes — embed as an iframe, or link to the hosted quiz on your Pulseware URL. The hosted page is mobile-first and respects your brand colour even on the Free plan.
How is a quiz different from a survey?
A survey collects opinions — there are no right answers. A quiz returns a result — either a score (trivia, knowledge test) or an archetype (personality). Pulseware does both because the builder shares 90% of its mechanics; the difference is in scoring and the result page.
Will my quiz work on mobile?
Mobile-first by design. The quiz runner is built for thumbs: large tap targets, one question at a time, instant transitions. Most personality-quiz traffic is mobile; we tune for it.

How this page was created

This page was written and reviewed by the Pulseware product team. We scoped it against the quiz-shaped surveys we already see being built on Pulseware — pub trivia, course knowledge checks, lead-gen "what type are you" flows — and called out clearly where Pulseware fits and where a dedicated scored-quiz platform is the better tool.

We re-check this page when the runner adds any quiz-relevant behaviour (branching, conditional pages, scoring).
