The built-in NPS question

"How likely are you to recommend us to a friend or colleague?"

0 = not at all likely, 10 = extremely likely. Standard NPS phrasing. Built into the template, the runner, and the dashboard.

Automatic scoring

Pulseware sorts every response into the right bucket and calculates your score live — no spreadsheet required.

Promoters

NPS = % Promoters − % Detractors. Pulseware calculates this live in the dashboard — no spreadsheet.

Recommended follow-up questions

Pair the NPS rating with one or two follow-up questions to find out what's driving the score.

  • What is the main reason for your score?
  • What could we improve?
  • What nearly stopped you from recommending us?
  • May we contact you about your feedback?

Common questions

Specifically about NPS surveys and scoring.

How is the score calculated?
Pulseware groups 0–6 as detractors, 7–8 as passives and 9–10 as promoters. The score is the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors, calculated live in the response dashboard.
What question should I ask?
Use the likelihood-to-recommend style question: "How likely are you to recommend [product, company or service] to a friend or colleague?" Add a comment follow-up such as "What is the main reason for your score?"
Can I collect unlimited NPS responses?
Yes, for legitimate use. Pulseware does not add an artificial response cap, so you can keep collecting while your response sample builds.
Can I export NPS results?
Yes. Per-response data exports as CSV or XLSX, including scores and comments. The aggregate NPS score is calculated in the response dashboard and is not included as an aggregate value in the export.
Is NPS a trademark?
NPS and Net Promoter Score are marks of Bain & Company, Satmetrix and Fred Reichheld. Pulseware does not claim affiliation or certification.
Can I run the survey anonymously?
You can use anonymous mode to stop collecting email addresses. It is not complete anonymity: exports can include submitted_at, ip_hash and user_agent.
